Wedding Shower Decorating on a Low Budget

We are in the process of planning a bridal shower and we would like to do the decorating low budget.  So the first thing to figure out was the theme, which we decided to go Black and White elegant with a small splash of red.  Next it was off to... the Dollar Tree, where we purchased :

White plastic table cloths
glass bowls
wine glasses
pillar candles
fake flowers
White and Red posterboard
Coffee filters

Everything there is $1.00 each!  Next stop K-Mart where we purchased floating candles.  I used my rewards dollars or they didn't cost me anything out of pocket.  I love days like this!  We knew we wanted a table runner and we thought about using wrapping paper but we couldn't find any black and white.  But we did find a plastic table cloth where the edges were the look we were going for.  So we purchased a couple of those, cut off the bottoms and used those for the Runners.  Black paper plates and silverware, and white napkins.  Now time to put it all together!

Heart

The first thing we did was make this lovely fluff heart with the happy couples initials.
We placed a chair with a white chair cover ( purchased for e-FavorMart.com for $2.15)
as the seat for the Bride-to-be.  The heart was an easy DIY project that we will explain later.

Bicycle Built for Two Picture

Next I painted this picture of a Tandem Bike.  The frame came from a local second hand store.  I  painted over the old picture that had seen better days.  I love giving old things a new life.  The Nearly Married banner flying off the back is black poster board that was taped down.  We curled the banner in a couple of different places with tape to make it more 3D.  And the best part is it is removable.  The bride asked to use it at the reception hall so we will make a new banner that says Just Married.  I love this picture so much that I think when we are done with it for the wedding I will replace or lose the banner and hang it up somewhere in the house..... maybe in the babies (Twins) bedroom!  This picture was hung above the buffet bar.

Here Comes the Bride Banner

We made a Here Comes the Bride banner to hang over the gift table.  All I did  was print each letter out  on the printer, in the size you want it to be.  I used one piece of paper per letter.  Next we cut out Black poster board just a little larger for the background.  We cut and glued each letter to the background.  Then I lined each letter and heart with glue and sprinkled on some glitter.  You just got to have glitter somewhere!   At the top of the background pieces I punched holes with a single hole punch.  I just used two holes - one on each side and ran a spool of ribbon though it all to make a nice hanging banner.  Here is a sample up close.
